We have always been watching Times Square in New York. Is it that wonderful when you were there? Yes, it is. I like the environment in Times Square that are full of people walking around in that area. The buildings were unique and with the billboards all around the buildings, it's makes it more special.

Did you know that not too far away from Times Square there are a road that are made into market? Not the food market but something similar with Malaysia's Jonker Walk and Singapore's Niu Che Zhai. But unfortunately i was too busy shopping but didn't get any of the shots there :( Don't blame me ya

The first day in New York is the day for shooping. We went to Woodbury (a place who sells alot of cheap branded stuff). I've went around the town to get some stuff for myself. It's been a long time since I've went shopping for myself. A very nice township that has been created. It was surrounded by many beautiful mountains.

All Marketers Are Liars (Part 2)

My previous post i was talking about marketers are only story tellers. I continued to read chapter two of this book. It says that there are many types of people in this world. Many marketers fail because they can't catch what their target audience wants. Different audience have different perspective on the same ads.

Marketers can't totally control any ads impression or message to all audience. This is because different audience have different thinking and wants.
It's says "Marketing succeeds when enough people with similar worldviews come together in a way that allows marketers to reach them cost-effectively".

But there are also people like Steve jobs who successfully changed the audience worldview on Macintosh and then with ipod.

Marketers opportunity lies in finding a neglected worldview, framing the story in a way that these audience will focus on and going from there.

In this chapter it says;

A worldview is not who you are. It's what you believe. It's your biases.

A worldview is not forever. It's what the consumer believes right at that moment.

This makes me remembered about Starbucks case study that I've studied in my uni time. Everyone knows China is famous for tea. Almost everyone in China drinks tea. How Starbucks manage to successfully changed the China's people worldview to drinking coffee?

They are targeting the younger generation. They have make drinking coffee as a lifestyle. They manage to tell a story that the younger generation wants to hear or believe. This is why Starbucks successfully penetrated to China market. The target audience wants to believe drinking coffee at Starbucks represent that they are trendy and stylish.

Another good point to be remembered :)

I believe most of you guys have watched I'm a Lagend show by Will Smith. Guess what? During my bookstore hunt tour i've arrived in this place. I thought the scene would be much more bigger than this but this place is actualy similar to out KL Sentral. A meeting point for a few different train terminal.

The next stop are New York, compare to London, their subway are much more dirtier. But it is because their mrt are all underground. The biggest problem i have ever face is their roads. All in on line. They have a very good city planning but it's also confused me when i'm there. There have west st east st and both connected by the road numbers such as W32 are connected with E32

If you been here or saw it;s map you will know what i mean. When i'm standing outside of the mrt. i do not know which direction to move unless i bring a compass along with me. But along the trip, i've took some nice photo for keep. I;ve uploaded some in this blog for sharing :)

I've come across with a book that was named All Marketers Are Liars. I have asked myself is it true? To become a good marketer you have to lie?

I've decided to read it more to find out. In the first chapter, the author explain about how marketers can make it's ads successful. The author admit that he had lied when he named this book.

Marketers are not liars, they are story tellers. Telling the consumer what they want to hear and manage to get them to buy whatever they want to sell is considered a good marketer. Interesting info huh? What do you guys think?

If you’re tired of too much colour in your home, then the monochromatic vision of Monochrome Inc is just the thing.

Would you consider an interior design colour scheme that’s predominantly black and white? It probably would be tedious, wouldn’t it? And, worse, possibly funereal.

However, don’t dismiss the idea offhand because it may just surprise you what one can achieve with a limited palette.

Monochrome Inc, a New Zealand design studio specialising in monochromatic tones, is certainly making waves with their more austere designs.

“I call my designs the art of inspired simplicity,” says owner and designer Andrew Loader, 44, whose official mugshot is, of course, in black and white.

“My philosophy is deriving maximum impact from the most minimalist yet effective applications.”
Using just two basic colours may seem dull, but not if one were to offset the monochromatic scheme with sparkling metalic finishes and glass, with splashes of colour here and there to enliven things. You’d be surprised at how this could result in a space that’s glamorous and timeless.

Loader, who has travelled the globe as a luxury hotelier, understands the importance of creating environments that allow people to feel uplifted and inspired in the comfort of their own home; he just prefers a more restrained approach.

While many assume that Loader’s avant garde colour scheme appeals mostly to the hip and young set, what’s surprising is that a number of his clients are in their 50s and above.
These are well-off folk who have gone through their Versace and Cavalli stage of colour and drama, and are now turning the volume down.

Once, they might have spent a good part of their waking hours maximising their interiors but after filling the rooms of their home with disparate treasures, they are prepared to head in the opposite direction.
Loader charges US$150 (RM484) per hour to pick his brains, but anyone in his right mind would prefer a package deal that includes consultancy, design concepts and project management.

“Monochrome Inc works directly with the client to understand their visions, objectives and outcomes. I then provide an initial design concept that includes paint selections, floor/window treatments, furnishing, upholstery, cabinetry, lighting, artwork and accessories.

“If an outdoor terrace, balcony or patio is included, I will also recommend specific pots, containers and boxes, water feature solutions, canopy/awning, wall and floor treatments and lighting.

“My range of fabrics, wallpapers, decorative accessories and bespoke handmade furniture are exclusive to Monochrome. I can do a room, several or your entire house,” says Loader who spent two decades in the world of luxury hotel and creative design before returning to his native New Zealand in 2009 to open his studio.

A monochromatic scheme needn’t be limited to just black and white, explains Loader. Any colour pairing would work just as well, if carefully considered.

After all, the Chinese have been masters of this genre from centuries past. Think stunning black and red lacquer furniture, the extravagant red and gold interiors of bridal chambers, and, of course, the classic and timeless white and blue porcelain of Ming dynasty.

Food @ London 09

Of course it's food again ehehe... dr. don't angry har... we went to eat good food again. These are some of the food that i took in London.

Based on my brother's recommendation, we went to one Italian restaurant who have these as their set menu. the rice is very nice. but both of us didn't manage to finish the whole thing. so i ta pau back even reheat also very nice man :)

After Frankfurt, we have went to London for seminar. In London, it's a totally different environment. Compare to Frankfurt, this place feels more like a city. Busy street with many things to see. But i like the way they planned their transportation. The feel of walking in the street is very good. I can walk the whole London without any problem :)

You can see it in the pictures that I've took. An amateur like me can took these kind of picture, what if an expert been there? It will be fantastic right?

Frankfurt Train Terminal 09

I have been stopping in this terminal almost everyday. The environment here is so peaceful. There are alot of foods around this area. It feels like our bus stop terminal kind. The open air train are made for long journey such as Paris. There are underground train too that leads to other parts of this city.

Of course there were a thing called Food that could not be missed in any location. We have been walking around Frankfurt for a week to search for local foods. Guess what? Most of it is bread. Looks nice on the pictures huh?? To me, the bread is too hard to swallow. After the third day of my stay there, I've come to a state where i can't even eat these kinds of food. I MISS MALAYSIAN FOOD!

Maybe I'm too home sick ahah but actually the food is not bad. It's just that i can't bear eating bread all the time. Check out a hotel named Inside that is not far away from the airport. It's a very unique hotel with transparent bathroom ;)

@ Frankfurt Bookfair 09

Here I'm in Frankfurt Book fair. The main door does not seems grand to me but after i went into this convention, I've realized that it's even bigger than our KLIA Airport. We have to take buses from one hall to another. Very impressive.

This is the first time I've seen such big conventions except in TV. I do not expect it to be in such a way. Here we go, started our experience as a publisher for the first time. We have met hundreds of publisher and distributor in 7 days and we have learned a lot about how each countries operate their books business around the world. It's a good place worth while to visit.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the late posting. I've been very busy with my work and now only i have sometime to reconstruct my pictures and upload it to the blog. On my past post, i was on my way to Frankfurt for one of the most biggest Book fair in the world.

In KLIA, I saw 2 foreigners surfing the net. Guess which website that they surf often? Checking mails? Yes you are right it’s Gmail and Facebook!
